The doctor's office felt sterile, the air thick with antiseptic. Liam sat hunched on the uncomfortable chair, the news about his diary still fresh in his mind. He found himself tapping his foot restlessly. He couldn't shake off the crushing weight on his shoulders. The world felt muffled.

He felt the physical strain of trying to remain composed; he had barely eaten or slept in days. The therapist listened patiently, but each question felt like a needle prick. The words wouldn't come.

He felt the sudden, consuming desire to curl up and hide. He wanted to escape, to simply vanish from the world's gaze. The fight, it seemed, had been knocked out of him.
